The 2019 Preservation Sacramento Historic Home Tour will consist of an inside look at charming homes of the Woodlake neighborhood during the 44th Historic Home Tour, sponsored by Preservation Sacramento. Noted for its Tudor Revival cottages and mature trees, Woodlake is tucked between Highway 160 and Arden Way. North Sacramento Land Company founder Carl Johnson, an unabashed Anglophile, developed Woodlake in the 1920s. Described by Sacramento Magazine as “one of the best kept secrets of local real estate,” the Woodlake neighborhood is five minutes from the Capitol and 15 minutes from the airport.
This will be the first ever home tour of the Woodlake neighborhood.
Ticket booth opens at 9:30 AM, and is located in Woodlake Park, near the corner of Woodlake Drive and Forrest Street.
To begin the self-guided tour, stop by the Preservation Sacramento ticket booth to receive a program and the wristband that is needed for entry into buildings on the tour. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 the day of the event. Preservation Sacramento members will be able to purchase advance tickets for $25 from the Preservation Sacramento website until August 1. There also will be a street fair staffed by representatives of nonprofit groups.
The Preservation Sacramento Annual Home Tour is the largest and longest running home tour in Sacramento. One day a year, volunteers open their homes and businesses to members and friends of Preservation Sacramento. With an emphasis on historic buildings, the tour also features quality infill projects that have become important parts of Sacramento’s urban fabric. The tour is a self-guided, pedestrian experience. Because the tour involves private older residences, there will inevitably be some accessibility issues.
