Showcasing Midtown Sacramento’s Boulevard Park area, Preservation Sacramento is proud to present the 48th Annual Historic Home Tour on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. With a mission to highlight the historically significant architecture, timeless designs, and beautiful décor of some of Sacramento’s most prized historic homes and buildings, the 2024 Historic Home Tour will showcase six historic properties.
On the day of the tour, go to the ticket booth at the corner of 23rd & F Street, the former "Rite-Aid" parking lot, which is the site of this year's street fair. You'll receive a wristband for each ticket, and a booklet guide that shows you the location of all six houses, including history and stories about each house, neighborhood history, and a supplemental tour of a dozen other fascinating properties in the neighborhood. You can visit the homes on the tour in whatever order you like; the wristband gets you inside the homes where docents will lead you through each house at your leisure.
Members may purchase tickets for $25 each; all others pay $30 per ticket.
The Boulevard Park historic district includes two major elements: a collection of late 19th and early 20th century homes along the former streetcar line along H Street, which used to reach the State Fairgrounds and East Park (now McKinley Park), and the early 20th century neighborhood built on the Fairgrounds property starting in 1905. It is immediately recognizable for the landscaped north-south boulevards along 21st and 22nd Streets. This part of the district is listed in the Sacramento Register of Historic & Cultural Resources and the National Register of Historic Places.
